How I Survived Day 1 of College (Barely.)

Hello guys,
Welcome back to another episode where I proudly expose my embarrassing life choices for your entertainment.

So today’s episode is: “My First Day of College — Expectations vs Reality (Reality won.)”

Let’s start with a fact:
Some people enter college like, “New beginnings, new friends, new memories!”
I entered like, “Where is the exit?”

First things first — I’m not the type who walks into a room and says, “Hi, I’m Sakshi, let’s be best friends!”
Nope. My social skills take time to load… like those old phones that froze if you opened more than two apps.

I can make amazing friends online — like full bonding, trauma sharing, meme exchanging — but offline?
Introvert mode ON. Bluetooth and hotspot OFF.

Anyway, I walked into college with my hostel friends feeling all confident… only to find out we were all in different classes.
Why?
Because our surnames are social-distancing from each other.

I walked into my class, and I swear everyone looked like they already had a group chat, a picnic, and a reunion together.
People were chatting like they were born in the same maternity ward.
Meanwhile, I walked in like the new character in season 3 nobody asked for.

I quietly sat alone, waiting for someone to come and sit next to me…
You know, like in movies where a cute bestie enters and says, “Hey, can I sit here?”
My reality:
A random girl sat beside me and started talking like she was hosting a radio show.
And me?
My face said, “🙂”
My mind said, “NOT NOW PLEASE.”
My soul said, “System overheating. Social battery 2%.”

But trust me, it wasn’t attitude.
I was just not emotionally ready to socialize before lunch.

So yeah… I ended up having no fixed bench partner.
Every day was like musical chairs — except the music was my anxiety.
Sometimes a girl sat with me, sometimes I sat alone, and honestly… sitting alone was peaceful.
No fake friends, no forced small talk, no “Which school were you from?” interview.

Peace. Silence. Me and my thoughts — fighting each other but still good company.

So yes, that was my grand first day.
Not magical, not memorable… just mildly traumatic with a hint of comedy.

If you enjoyed laughing at my misery, don’t worry — the next episode will have more!
Until then, tell me — how was YOUR first day of college? Fun? Awkward? Or straight-up disaster material?
I’m ready for the tea. ☕🔥
